Madoka Arahama is a welfare facilities for intellectually disabled people, who can participate the Japanese Sweets Making and sellinghte hand crafts of the small craft workes for local public near to Sendai Bay.

In order to design simple and open spaces, a multipurpose hall is in the center of the building and connects to three zones ; a producting work zone (workrooms for making Japanese sweets and Japanese paper, tearooms), a living zone  (dining halls, rest spaces), and a conducting office and manegement zone (offices, conference rooms, concering rooms, medical offices).

Its mixed or hybrid structure consists of steel frame posts and wooden bounded beams. By using portal frame with C-150 columns both north and south sides of the building could completely open to the outside.
